Classes at Bushi Martial Arts Academy focus on Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate as the main discipline. Intact with a 400 year traceable lineage, direct from Okinawa, Japan, the birthplace of modern Karate-do. People of all ages can enjoy this health giving art. The art utilizes practical kicking, punching, striking, throwing and grappling to build strength and vitality while at the same time provding the practitioner with a vehicle for personal self-defence. In addition, classes will combine a study of several other aspects of martial arts with the purpose of developing a well rounded martial arts education. These include: Jiu-Jitsu, the mother art of modern Judo and Aikido. It is a graceful flwoing art using your intrinsic energy to pin, lock, throw and control your opponent through leverage and balance. Shaolin Chu'an Fa (Kung Fu), the original art created in China and handed down from six generations of grand masters. It incorporates the movements of five animals: the tiger, crane, leopard, dragon, and snake. Also studied is Kobudo (Okinawan Weaponry), a practical hands-on approach to the classical study of weaponry including modern applications. Course includes a comprehensive knowledge of defence against the same weapons.
