Activities
Looking to relax? Maybe stimulate the mind and soothe the senses?
Kirkland Lake offers something for every taste.
For starters, you can visit the Teck
Centennial Library. Even the most voracious bookworm can satiate
his appetite here!
Are you a history buff? Visit the Museum
of Northern History and step back in time, to when KL was a
young, rough and ready mining camp.
Or maybe you like film. Moviegoers will enjoy the top-notch movies
showing regularly at the LaSalle
Theatre, or the foreign and specialty films brought in by the
Cine Club.
Do your interests lie more towards the performing arts? The local
Arts Council brings performing artists and theatrical productions
to town on a regular basis. In the summer, take a walk up by Northern
College and catch an impromptu performance by the Junior
School of the Arts for Northern Ontario (JSANO). These young
performers will make your heart sing with their talented and enthusiastic
renditions and creations.
Other venues are also open to you. The local Rotary Club sponsors
the Children’s Entertainment Series. They always have something
to bring a smile and chuckle to the little ones. Looking for Francophone
culture? Visit Centre Culturel la Mine d’Art, the heart and soul
of French culture and society locally.
Looking for something a bit more boisterous? Join us every winter
carnival for the best cabaret performances in the north. Or kick
up your heels with the KL Brass Band or Swing Band.
It doesn’t matter what season, or what your interest, you’ll find
something to do in Kirkland Lake.
