General
Information
A good portion
of Kirkland Lake’s population are seniors. Fortunately
there are a number of resources available to help them lead
as healthy and independent lives as possible. These resources
include everything from assisted living, at home medical
care to full service residences.
Seniors care can
be divided into two general categories:
- At home care: For seniors with moderate care needs who
prefer to stay at home, home and community support services
provide flexible and practical solutions. These services
can be offered in your home or at other locations within
the community. Services can be obtained individually or
in combination.
- Residential Care: Residential care involves moving to
a place that offers the care you need. This includes supportive
housing to retirement homes, to long-term care facilities.
In Kirkland Lake, there are two long-term care facilities:

How do you find
information about what services are available and how to
access them? The local Community Care Access Centre is probably
the best place to begin .The CCAC is a provincially funded,
charitable, non-profit organization providing home health
care and support services, placement in long-term care facilities,
and one-stop access to information and referral to related
community resources.
