General Resources
g kids can be one
of the most challenging jobs we ever face. But there are
a number of resources that can make things easier.
Probably one of
the best places to learn what kind of assistance is available
is the Ontario Early Years Centre. The Ontario government
created Ontario Early Years Centres to be a place where
parents and caregivers can get answers to questions, information
about programs and services that are available for young
children, and an opportunity to talk to early years professionals,
as well as other parents and caregivers in the community.
You can find more information at:
Information about
the Kirkland Lake satellite office can be found at www.ontarioearlyyears.ca/kirklakesatellite.htm. Their calendar of events can be found at www.timiskamingchildcare.ca/oey/calendarlinks.htm
Be sure to check out the Centre's searchable inventory feature. This is a searchable database of programs and
services for family and children's services in Timiskaming-Cochrane. You can search the database for a particular agency or program.
Financial
Assistance
If you’re looking for information on financial assistance
or other government programs and services, visit the Ministry
of Children and Youth Services website. The Ministry
provides funding for child care services for low-income
families with young children.

for Children: Guide to Government of Canada Services for
Children and their Families.”
Local
Daycare Facilities
Looking for a
good daycare? A good daycare should support a child's emotional,
social, intellectual and physical well-being. The facility
should offer a clean, safe, caring, secure environment,
a low number of children per adult, space for quiet and
active times both indoors and outdoors, a balance of interesting
and stimulating activities, flexible yet predictable daily
routine, a variety of toys and equipment, and nutritious
meals and snacks.
