Outdoor burning is strictly regulated in Kirkland Lake to ensure
the protection of property and the safety of people. In 1998, municipal
council enacted BY-LAW
NO. 98-017( A By-law Respecting the Control of Fires within
the Town of Kirkland Lake Between the Period April 1 and October
31) that sets out the rules and regulations to govern such activities.
If you plan to do any outside burning
between April 1 and October 31, you must apply to the Fire Services
for a permit. Familiarize yourself with the bylaw BEFORE engaging
in any burning activity. Better yet, contact the Fire Services Division.
Remember, it's better to be safe than sorry.
