Kirkland Lake
Fire Services provides a wide range of programs and services
including: fire suppression, control of hazardous materials,
auto extrication, arson investigation, public education,
fire prevention, fire code advise, inspections and enforcement
of the fire code, fire related building code inspections
and responding to any rescue situation. They also answer
and dispatch calls for surrounding communities such as
Round Lake, King Kirkland, McGarry Township, and Larder Lake. Lastly, the division runs fire prevention
programs such as the TAPP-C
for juvenile fire starters in concert with the Boreal Centre,
the Learn Not
to Burn curriculum, and the Older
and Wiser programs in the separate and public schools.
The Division consists of a Director of Emergency Services, four
Platoon Chiefs and six fire fighters all of whom are full time personnel,
and 43 part time fire fighters (normally referred to as Volunteers).
The Division operates
two fire stations. Station #l is the Headquarters Station and is
located at 8 O'Meara Boulevard in Kirkland Lake. Station #2 is situated
on Government Road in Swastika. In operation from these stations
are three pumpers, one quintuple combination aerial truck, a rescue
van, and a chief's truck.
