DAY CARE CENTRE - EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR


(Non-Union)

 

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE DAYCARE SUPERVISOR.

 

Position Overview:


• Plan and implement preschool curriculum in the Early Learning Program,
• Guide children in their physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development in accordance with the philosophy of the child care centre, and the Day Nurseries Act.

Qualifications:

 

• Must have an Early Childhood Education Diploma from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology,
• Excellent communication and leadership skills,
• Work effectively as part of a team,
• Knowledge and experience working with special needs children will be an asset,
• Hold a current First Aid / CPR certificate,
• Clear Criminal Reference Check.

 

Hours: up to 35 hours per week - based on enrolment

 

Compensation: $16.37 per hour

PHYSICAL SERVICES DEPT. - WATERWORKS PIPE LAYER

Full-Time / Union

 

THE TOWN OF KIRKLAND LAKE PHYSICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT WATERWORKS DIVISION IS CURRENTLY INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR ONE WATERWORKS PIPE LAYER / UTILITIES SPARE.

Position Overview:


• Under the supervision of the Waterworks Foreman / Sub-Foreman, the Waterworks Pipe Layer will be responsible for water distribution and wastewater collection systems construction and maintenance,
• Under the supervision of the Utilities Foreman, the Pipe Layer acting as a Utility Spare will be responsible to perform duties in monitoring operations and maintenance in the water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

• Successful completion of Secondary school (Grade 12) education,
• Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license,
• Must be certified as a Class I in water distribution, water treatment, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment,
• Two (2) years of related experience considered an asset,
• Clear Criminal Reference Check.

 

Hours: 40 hours per week

 

Compensation: As per current collective agreement - $20.78 per hour plus certification premiums.

PHYSICAL SERVICES DEPT. - WATERWORKS LABOURER

(Full-Time / Union)

 

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE WATERWORKS FOREMAN / SUB-FOREMAN.

 

Position Overview:

  • Perform manual duties in the maintenance and construction of the wastewater collection and the water distribution system.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Successful completion of Secondary school (Grade 12) education,
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license,
  • Operator-In-Training (O.I.T.) certificate would be considered an asset or must achieve O.I.T. within 6 months,
  • Clear Criminal Reference Check.

Hours: 40 hours per week

 

Compensation: As per current collective agreement - $19.67 per hour plus certification premiums.

MUSEUM - SUMMER STUDENTS

THE SUMMER STUDENT POSITIONS WILL BE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE MUSEUM MANAGER.

 

General Criteria:


• Full-time University / Community College student who will be returning to full-time studies in the semester following the job with Young Canada Works (YCW),
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada,
• Between 16 and 30 years of age,
• Willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment,
• Must not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed by the Corporation,
• Must be registered in the YCW candidate inventory,
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language. Good oral communication skills in the French language is preferred,
• Genuine interest in Northern Ontario History,
• Clear a Criminal Reference Check.

 

Hours: 35 hours per week - the majority of the shifts are weekdays with alternating weekend shifts


May 26 to Aug 29, 2008

 

Compensation: $9.00 per hour

 

CURATORIAL ASSISTANT

Position Overview: Assist with maintaining artifacts and archives within the museum’s collection. The student will also assist with the organization and execution of events and exhibitions.

Qualifications:


• Student with a focus in museology or history is preferred,
• Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite,
• Ability to take supervision as well as coordinate / supervise the work of others is an asset.

 

INTERPRETER / GUIDE


Position Overview: Study, learn and provide information to tourists and visitors on the architectural and heritage details of the Sir Harry Oakes Chateau; the history of Sir Harry Oakes and his family; the history of the Town of Kirkland Lake; Become knowledgeable about the artifacts in the museum exhibits; plan talks and give guided tours regarding the temporary and permanent exhibits.

Qualifications:


• Student with a focus in history is preferred,
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite,
• Ability to take supervision and instruction,
• Experience in a retail environment is preferred.

TEMPORARY LABOURERS

 

The Town of Kirkland Lake Physical Services Department occasionally seeks temporary Labourers during the year.

 

Candidates must be enthusiastic and team-oriented individuals along with a minimum Grade 12 Diploma and a valid Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing. Additional licenses and certificates will be taken into consideration.

These are temporary positions lasting up to 7 months maximum in a given calendar year.
