M&M Meat Shops announces plans to open
a number of M&M Meat Shops SELECT® in Northern Ontario in 2008 and 2009.
The company is actively seeking franchisees for new store opportunities in
Hearst, Espanola, Blind River, Kapuskasing, Kirkland Lake and Wawa. The company is also looking for potential
store sites in these locations.
As Canada's largest specialty
frozen food chain, the Kitchener, Ontario-based company offers hundreds of meal
ideas in just one aisle.
M&M Meat Shops opened its first store in 1980 and currently has over 465
locations across Canada, including over 210 stores in Ontario. Each store carries
over 300 products offering convenient, homestyle and healthy meal alternatives
to today’s busy families.
“After much review, we feel that Northern
Ontario communities are ideal for M&M Meat Shops SELECT® stores” says John
Wissent, V.P. of Development for the company. “SELECT® stores are smaller in
size, carry a slightly smaller product line and have lower rent than standard
size stores. With comparatively lower costs and therefore lower breakeven
sales, M&M Meat Shops SELECT® provides for a strong business opportunity.
The estimated total investment is approximately $250,000 and we require the
incoming franchisee to come up with half the total amount. This can be in the form of cash on hand,
marketable securities or some home equity.”
