and laboratory
services, an electrical
equipment recycling company, reforestation
operations, and a cogeneration
plant. Companies like North
Sun Gardens, Swastika Tree Nursery and PRT NorthGro also call
KL home.
Kirkland Lake offers a number of competitive advantages, such as
a skilled and available workforce, dedicated infrastructure and
a central location with easy access to major markets in southern
Ontario and the northern U.S. As the demand for environmental services
increases, these factors will play a major role in attracting new
players. Local and regional needs will also stimulate growth. These
include the need to rehabilitate old mining properties and clean
up military and industrial properties in the district and towards
the James Bay coast.
