Report Title
Streetlight Installation and Maintenance
Recommendations
It is recommended that contract L-450-10 “Streetlight Installation and Maintenance” be awarded to Kohut Electric, for the tendered amount of $19,450 plus GST.
Policy Implications
This contract was recently tendered in the Northern News. Kohut Electric was the lowest of the two tenders received, and the only local contractor to submit a bid.
Budget Implications
This contract will see the first price increase since 2006. However this tender falls within the 2010 budgeted amount for this type of work.
Purpose
This contract covers the installation of new streetlights, as well as the maintenance of existing lights at pre-determined prices as set out in the contract.
Background
Kohut Electric has been providing us with excellent service in the performance of this contract since 1997. While the contract prices have increased, this is the first increase we have seen in four years, and can be attributed to inflationary pressure.
